Kedarnath is one of the four pioneers of the ‘Char Dham Yatra’, a pilgrimage, that every Hindu should do once in a lifetime. Kedarnath is also amongst the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva. The word ‘Kedar; means fields and ‘Nath’ means the Lord, meaning ‘Master of Fields’. It is located at 253 km from Rishikesh in the Garhwal Himalayan Extend of Uttarakhand.

Itinerary

Day 1
Reporting at Sankari

Report to the Sankari base camp
by 4:00 pm. Members have to reach
Sankari by themselves. Then you
will go through the registration and
orientation process from 5:00 pm to
7:00 pm. Allotment of items like
Rucksack, Gaiters, Microspikes and
Trekking Poles. Acclimatisation
walk. Overnight stay at Sankri base
camp.

Day 2
Juda Ka Talab 9100 ft

Start by 7 AM for the trek to Juda
ka Talab. On the way, you can spot
woodpeckers as they are pretty
common in the region. Encounter a
larger green meadow on the way,
which is generally used as a lunch
point for the trekkers. Overnight
stay at Juda ka Talab Camp.

Day 3
Kedarkantha Base Camp 11250 ft

Start by 7 AM for the trek to
Kedarkantha base camp. The entire
route is totally covered with snow
so start early to suit against the
snow conditions. At night, the
snow-clad mountain peaks shine
bright as the moon, the peak of
Kedarkantha becomes distinctly
visible. Sleep early to get ready for
the early summit push for the
peak, the next day

Day 4
Kedarkantha Base - Kedarkantha peak - Hargaon 12500 ft

The day starts early with a wakeup
call at 3 AM for the summit push.
The summit offers some of the
most spectacular views of
Yamunotri and Gangotri ranges. The
descent from the peak follows the
same route till Kedarkantha Base
camp. Participants will have hot
lunch and continue the descent till
Hargaon, the day’s camp.

Day 5
Hargaon - Sankari 6400 ft

The last days fall to be easy with
gentle snow slopes to descend.
Participants can leave for Dehradun
today after 3 pm. Cabs are
frequently available
for Dehradun from Sankri.
